A little intro

I like to cook, a lot. I think i've started cooking since I was in elementary school, but recently got more serious because I got so inspired with Masterchef the TV Series.

I like to cook simple, everyday special dish. I much much prefer to cook some things which ingrediemts is easily available at home. I don't really like to have to go to some particluar expensive special imported goods supermarket to buy some ingredients that only available there. So there you go, most of my ingredients is simple and easily found at home.

All the recipes in my blog are from research, gooling, and most defintely, cooked and tested by me. So enjoy the blog, feel free to leave a comment or question or recipe request or whatever :)

Resep Blueberry/Strawberry Cheese Cake

Resep Blueberry Cheese cake

Bahan-bahan:

250 gr marie regal atau Jacob's
100 gr unsalted butter (elle & vire preferably, jangan pakai orchid)
210 gr gula pasir
4 butir telur
1 kg cream cheese, suhu ruangan (jangan beku/jangan dingin)
250 gr sour cream (bisa diganti yoghurt yang kental, kalau nggak suka, pakai 100gr aja juga nggak papa)
2 sdt air jeruk lemon
2 sdt lemon zest

250 gr selai blueberry

Cara Pembuatan:
  • Siapkan loyang bongkar pasang 22 cm olesi mentega, sisihkan. Hancurkan biskuit hingga halus,l alu tuang butter yang sudah dilelehkan,aduk rata. Masukkan adonan biskuit pada loyang,ratakan dan tekan-tekan sampai padat, sisihkan.
  • Mixer gula dan telur hingga kental, sisihkan.
  • Mixer cream cheese hingga lembut, perlahan-lahan masukkan sour cream, lalu masukkan campuran telur dan gula sambil terus di-mixer.
  • Tuangkan adonan ini ke dalam loyang, di atas adonan biskuit, lalu oven dengan suhu 165C dengan cara au bain marie [diletakkan di atas loyang yang sudah diisi air/di tim] selama 90 menit.
  • Angkat,dinginkan di suhu ruang, hingga benar-benar dingin.
  • Ratakan selai blueberry diatasnya, lalu dinginkan semalaman di freezer. Kalau mau strawberry cheesecake ya ganti dengan selai dan puree strawberry.
Ps: Karena kalau bikin 1kg terlalu banyak, jadi aku hanya bikin 1/4 recipe aja, pakai cream cheese 250gr, 1 telur, 50gr gula pasir, beberapa sendok makan sour cream/yoghurt etc. Tapi lemon zest dan air jeruk lemon-nya jangan dikurangi.

Resep-resep Smoothies

1. Smoothies Strawberry

Bahan:
1 pak strawberry, bersihkan, buang daunnya. Sisakan 3 buah, potong-potong.
1 cup susu putih
1 cup es batu, crushed
1 cup kecil yoghurt plain/strawberry
Gula secukupnya

Blender semua bahan, tapi jangan terlalu lama supaya es-nya masih terasa butirannya. Masukan sisa strawberry, blender selama 3 detik lalu sajikan. Diminum saat itu juga.

2. Veggies Smoothies

Bahan:
1 cup strawberry
1 cup blueberry (atau bisa juga 1/2 cup raspberry & 1/2 cup strawberry)
1 cup daun bayam
1 tomat sedang
1/2 potong pisang
1 cup yoghurt
2 cup susu beku, hancurkan
air putih sedikit
gula secukupnya
1 sdt vanilla essens 

Blender semuanya sampai es-nya hancur dan terasa butir0butir halus dan sajikan saat itu juga, soalnya kalau didiamkan teksturnya jadi kurang bagus.

Bitterballen and Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Bitterballen Recipe
(Resep Bitterballen)

Bahan:
250 gr daging cincang
 100 gr mentega
1 bawang bombay sedang, kira-kira 75gram, cincang halus
50 gr terigu
350 ml susu cair
garam, merica, gula pasir, kecap ikan secukupnya
100 gr tepung roti/tepung panir
1 telur untuk melapisi
minyak goreng secukupnya
Cara Membuat :
  1. Tumis daging di wajan anti lengket sampai airnya habis, tapi jangan terlalu kering.
  2. Panaskan mentega, tumis bawang bombay sampai harum, lalu masukkan terigu. Aduk rata.
  3. Tuang susu sedikit-sedikit, sambil aduk terus hingga adonan rata dan kental. Kemudian masukkan daging cincang, garam, kecap ikan, merica, gula. Aduk lagi hingga rata. Diamkan sampai dingin.
  4. Bulatkan adonan, besarnya sesuai selera. Kemudian gulingkan di tepung roti, celupkan di telur kocok dan gulingkan sekali lagi ke dalam tepung roti.
  5. Goreng di dalam minyak panas yg banyak (deep fry) hingga berwarna kuning kecoklat2an. Pakai api sedang, jangan terlalu panas supaya tidak cepat gosong. Tiriskan dan taruh di atas koran supaya tidak terlalu berminyak.
Selain untuk camilan, bitterballen juga bisa dijadikan bekal dan dimakan dengan nasi.


Mashed Potatoes Recipe
( Resep Mashed Potatoes )

Bahan:
6 buah kentang sedang
1/2 cup susu hangat
2-3 sendok makan mentega
garam dan merica secukupnya

Cara:
1. Bersihkan kentang, kupas, dan potong-potong.
2. Rebus kentang di dalam panci yang berisi air yang sudah diberi sedikit garam selama 25 menit atau hingga benar2 empuk.
3. Setelah kentang empuk, saring airnya dan biarkan agak kering.
4. Hancurkan kentang.
4. Campurkan susu, mentega, garam, dan merica ke dalam kentang secara perlahan-lahan sambil diaduk.
5. Tambahkan sedikit daun peterseli jika suka.
6. Hidangkan selagi hangat.


TIPS:
- Selalu gunakan susu hangat, jangan gunakan susu dingin
-Jumlah susu dan mentega bisa dikurangi atau ditambah sesuai selera dan kebutuhan
- Hancurkan kentang menggunakan potato masher
- Mash Potato juga cocok dimakan dengan steak, atau sosis panggang BBQ.

Superb Sprinkles!



OME it's Sprinkles' Red Velvet Cupcake!

So I just got these from an angel who brought it all the way from Cali ;p It's the Sprinkles' red velvet cupcake. And let me tell you something, it is heavenly. It tastes heavenly.

It looks so pretty as well, I cannot stop taking pictures and eating them ;p
I ate a red velvet cupcake yesterday from a famous-high end bakery, it was pretty good. But, to compare to this? Hmm..., it doesn't hold a candle ;p
The cake was sooo moist and soft, with just hint of chocolate flavor in it. You can taste a little chocolate, but definitely not overpowering the other flavor. The color is dark red, really red velvet.

Resep Puding Karamel

 Resep Puding Karamel/Creme Caramel

Bahan Puding:
5 butir telur
125 gr gula pasir
500 ml susu putih cair
1/4 sdt vanila essens



Bahan Karamel:

175 gr gula pasir
1 sdm air jeruk nipis <----- paling penting!
2 sdm air

Cara membuat:
1. Masukkan bahan karamel ke teflon, atur api ke sedang/medium, aduk aduk gulanya hingga gula meleleh menjadi karamel (cairan kecoklatan dan kental).

2. Setelah menjadi karamel, saring, dan segera masukkan karamel sebagai coating di dasar pinggan tahan panas (seperti pyrex) dan putar-putar supaya karamel menutupi semua atau 3/4 lapisan pyrex.

3. Siapkan wadah, kocok telur, susu hangat, gula pasir, dan vanila essens hingga tercampur rata, saring, lalu masukkan ke dalam pyrex yang telah diberi karamel tadi.

4. Panggang di oven dengan cara au bain marie dengan panas 180 derajat celcius selama kurang lebih 45 menit sampai satu jam. ATAU, siapkan panci yang sudah diisi air panas, masukkan pyrex ke dalam panci yang sudah diisi air (air-nya sekitar 1/2 - 3/4 dari tinggi pyrex, jangan terlalu penuh, takutnya masuk ke dalam pyrex), tutup panci, masak dengan api sedang selama kurang lebih 45 menit sampai satu jam. kalau airnya habis tapi pudingnya belum matang, tambahkan air panas/mendidih ke dalam panci.

Ps: Memanggang dengan cara au bain marie adalah teknik memanggang dalam air (di-tim). Jadi, pyrex-nya dimasukkan ke wadah yang sudah diisi air panas, seperti ini, nih:

Resep Pancake a la Pancious

Ingredients:
Bahan Pancake
3 cup tepung terigu (1 cup = 16 sendok makan / sekitar 270 gram / 1/4 liter)
2 sendok teh gula pasir
1 sendok teh baking powder
2 butir telur; dipisah kuning dan putihnya
2 cup buttermilk (aku pakai susu biasa, ditambah perasan jeruk nipis sedikit)
2 sendok makan mentega


Cara membuat pancake:
1. dalam wadah A: campur tepung terigu, gula dan baking powder
2. dalam wadah B: Di mangkok lain, kocok putih telur dengan mixer sampai berbusa
3. dalam wadah C: Kocok kuning telur, buttermilk, dan mentega. kemudian campurkan dengan bahan-bahan yang sudah dicampur di wadah A. aduk rata


(Syifa: Panaskan susu di panci (ga usah sampai mendidih), masukkan mentega, aduk dengan whisker sampai leleh dan tercampur, baru masukkan kuning telur lalu aduk sampai benar-benar lumat semuanya. Ini supaya kuning telur menjadi matang. Diamkan si kulkas sampai jadi room temperature, lalu baru masukkan ke wadah A)
4. setelah diaduk, masukan wadah B (make sure putih telurnya sudah berbusa dan fluffy, jangan sampai didiamkan, jadi kocok terus sampai berbusa baru dimasukkan ke adonan), aduk rata lagi dan diamkan selama 10 menit.
5. panaskan wajan pancake yang sudah diolesi mentega dengan api kecil, setelah mentega meleleh, masukan 1/4 cup adonan ke dalam wajan.
6. tunggu sekitar 2 menit sampai bagian tengah pancake berpori-pori dan pinggirannya sedikit mengering, balik, dan masak sampai berwarna kecokelatan.

My Top 5 Picks: MAGAZINES!

I got inspired to do a little TOP 5. Like Top 5 Fave food, top 5 fave mall, yada yada you get the point.
Gonna start with magazine since I was (and recovering) magazines-addict. And since it's me, yes I will try to put my fave cover as well (and you know how it entitles, don't ya? ;p)


My Top 5 Magazine Picks

1. DOLLY Australia

Despite the choice of covers that I put in my blog (you kno me *wink), Dolly is HANDS-DOWN the best magazine with the best layout EVER. And believe me when I say I've had my fair share of girls/women/fashion magazine (will post it below). Basically, Australian magazines like Cosmo, GF, and Cleo have the best layout, but Dolly still hands-down the best of all.
And they have great articles, gossip, and fashion tips ( LOTS of them actually), very easy and enjoyable to read.
Dolly only have one issue (Australian Dolly), and I hope they do intent to keep it that way.
It's pretty expensive as well actually, but whatever, it's a good mag nonetheless.
Ps. They have this sealed section about girls stuff, how thoughtful!

So informative, and just... brilliant! 
But I might have to say some Seventeen's from other country actually put a shame to the US edition, this is also why I wrote above, the US edition. Actually the Singapore edition is cool as well, but still not as good. Tho whenever I visit a country that has Seventeen I always buy it ;p
And I love the paper they're using. DNW, I just love them.

I still remember my first copy of Teen Vogue years years years ago. It was a used magazine, but I got it at the same month. I mean, I bought a used TV December issue on December. And I'm SO IN LOVE with the mag, and considering I was, at that time, on the perfect age demography for TV, so it's like, BAM! It's so me!

Before that time, I have no idea Vogue has TV, which kinda surprised me, and as far as I know, when I got my 1st issue of TV, the bookstores in Jakarta haven't sell it, not like nowadays. It was probably one of the first magazine with smaller-sized, and definitely the pioneer magazine for smaller-sized magazines.




4. IKEA Catalogue

Some of you might say, "Hey, this is a catalogue, not magazine!" Okay, big deal. When magazine is actually a catalogue from vary brands, this one holds one same brand. Ties, I think.

IKEA is my pleasure (both guilty or not, both conscious and unconscious).
I always, begged my Dad to get me one of their catalogue whenever he goes abroad. And I lusting over the pages, even more than I lust over fashion magazines. I do think I spent more time looking at this magazine than those fashion magz ;p

IKEA is brilliant, hands down. So creative, and innovative, friendly, and sophisticated.
You might think IKEA pays me to talk if I continue tho ;p
It's a great, thorough, clear , and informative catalogue all at once. Even if you don't have IKEA nearby, you still can copy their look, right? And let's end this here before we talk about the showroom :D



5. TIES on fave-sequence (InStyle, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Lucky)

I love all of them equally and since they're all at the same demographic and pretty much same everything, I'll just put them all together. InStyle and Lucky, for me, is the ULTIMATE shopping guide. I remember very well my on first copy of Lucky, they gave me this stickers (a full page of them) to make it easier for us to mark the page that hold stuff that we're interested in. If you live in US or you're happen in US and want to go shopping, grab this magazine, put some stickers on it, grab your wallet and go. Those stuff in both Lucky and InStyle have enough variation for every budget. Lovely!

Bazaar and Vogue basically featured the same fashion/style/products. I do, however, notice the difference between their featured articles and companion, but basically it's EQUAL.

Financial Tips

How to SAVE

Umumnya, makin besar penghasilan, makin besar pula pengeluaran kita. Yuk, be a smart spender. Percaya nggak, sebenernya kita bisa lho keluar negeri berkali-kali setahun hanya dengan pintar ngatur pengeluaran :)) 

Sebenernya, nabung itu gampang banget, yang susah: the will to do so, dan godaan-godaan sepanjang jalan, Saya jadi tertarik untuk share beberapa tips dan trik pengehematan. Siapa tahu, bisa membantu sedikit ;p

1. Kurangi Makan di luar rumah
Makan di resto/cafe memang pasti enak, sushi, pizza, steak, pasta... yummmm,
Tapi coba hitung, berapa banyak yang kamu keluarkan untuk makan dalam sebulan. Coba kumpulkan semua receipt dan hitung pengeluaran kamu untuk makan di luar. Dapat sepatu berapa pasang? Dapat tiket Jakarta-HongKong?

Kadang-kadang, craving terhadap makanan tertentu memang suka ganggu. Trik-nya, coba cari subtitusinya. Daripada makan strawberry cheesecake di SoHo, coba beli strawberry cheesecake-nya Bread Talk. Rasanya mirip kok, harganya beda 3 kali lipat.

Pengen Sup Buntut Hotel Borobudur? Coba ke warung kaki lima di belakang Plaza Senayan atau di daerah perkantoran Setiabudi di Kuningan, kamu bisa makan sampai kekenyangan plus traktir 4 orang teman kamu dengan pengeluaran yang sama dengan satu porsi Sup Buntut Borobudur.

Intinya, makan di luar umumnya adalah salah satu porsi pengeluaran paling besar dari pendapatan kita. Some people called it lifestyle, some just think out of the box and figured out the other way!

2. Kurangi Belanja
Window shopping, lihat toko online.., selalu aja ada godaan untuk belanja. Belanja sih nggak mungkin berhenti, but be smart ladies, beberapa barang hanya indah untuk beberapa saat aja.
Ketika kamu tertarik untuk membeli sesuatu, langsung buat skala prioritas. Dari Skala 1-10, berapa skala kepentingan barang tersebut untuk kamu miliki. JANGAN pernah beli sesuatu barang hanya dengan alasan "seneng punya, atau asal punya, atau senang dilihat". Selain mubazir, bayangkan dalam kurun waktu 6 bulan ke depan, mau kamu apakan barang tersebut? Berguna atau cuma disimpan saja?

Trik lain, set batas budget yang sudah kamu hitung secara cermat. Semisal, batas budget untuk membeli sebuah kemeja Rp 200.000, jangan sekali-kali melanggar budget yang sudah kamu buat tersebut. Kemejanya lucu banget, langka, lagi diskon, dll? Lihat lagi skala prioritas.
Money Management

3. Kurangi pergi ke Mall
Mall itu tempat orang mengeluarkan uang. Logika-nya aja, semakin sering kamu ke mall, semakin banyak pengeluaran kamu.

4. Cari kegiatan positif
Yuk, be creative and do something. Siapa tahu, malah kegiatan sampingan kamu ini bisa menghasilkan penghasilan tambahan. Seorang teman saya, bekerja sebagai karyawati, tapi dia menerima pesanan kue apple pie. Dia mengelola website sederhana untuk mempromosikan usahanya. Lumayan buat tambahan!
